Inauguration Events Rescheduled Due to Severe Weather Threat
NEW ORLEANS (Jan. 8, 2026) – Due to the threat of severe weather, inauguration events originally planned for Saturday have been rescheduled.
ALL IN FOR OUR CULTURE FESTIVAL MOVES TO SUNDAY
The All In for Our Culture Festival will now take place Sunday, January 11, from noon to 5 p.m. at Lafayette Square, when weather conditions are expected to be clear and pleasant. The festival is free and open to all residents.
As a new addition, the Inauguration Mass will be livestreamed and broadcast live to Lafayette Square at 5 p.m., allowing the public to view the service together following the festival. It will also be streamed live at allinforneworleans.com/watch.
DAY OF SERVICE RESCHEDULED TO MLK DAY
The All In for Our Community: Citywide Day of Service will now take place on Monday, January 19, 2026 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) to align with service projects happening across the city.
Volunteers who previously signed up will receive updated information. Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to sign up at allinforneworleans.com.
SAFETY DECISION GUIDED BY EXPERTS
The Moreno Inauguration Committee made the decision to reschedule events following advice from the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP) and after consultation with the New Orleans Police Department.
ABOUT THE INAUGURATION
The entire inauguration is privately funded, with no public dollars used for any events.
The 2026 inauguration weekend will feature free public events, citywide service opportunities, and multiple ways for residents to participate, either in person or via livestream.

INAUGURATION MASS (LIVE STREAMED)

The Inauguration Mass will be livestreamed and broadcast for public viewing, including at allinforneworleans.com/watch, and shown live on a large screen at Lafayette Square. The service will include interfaith blessings and music curated with support from the Archdiocese of New Orleans and Mrs. Gayle Benson.

OFFICIAL INAUGURATION CEREMONY (LIVE STREAMED)
9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. | Virtual
The Mayor and City Council will be sworn in during a ceremony that blends civic tradition with New Orleans culture. The event will include musical performances and will be fully livestreamed and broadcast to ensure access for all residents, including at allinforneworleans.com/watch
Monday, January 19 - MLK Day
